great driver plenty forgiving enough looks and feels great. only problem for me is the shaft which has a mid to low kick point and just hit's the ball too high for me. comes down with snow on. real shame you can't change the shaft because i love the driver.

Great club, the stiff shaft is stiffer than my R7 so I've changed to a regular which is fine. Smaller head easier to manage and reasonably forgiving. Adjustable shaft seems to do the job.

TaylorMade's revolutionary 'Flight Control Technology' (FCT) allows you to change the R9 driver's face angle, loft and lie angle with the simple twist of a wrench.
Flight control technology is possible thanks to a small metallic sleeve positioned over the tip of the shaft. The shaft is secured to the clubhead with a specially made bolt which can then be loosened to remove the head and alter the face, loft and lie angle - giving your desired ball flight.
What makes the TaylorMade R9 driver so special is the combination of the FCT with TaylorMade's famous movable weight technology. The clubhead features three weight ports and comes equipped with one 16-gram and two 1-gram weights as standard.
The combined effect of 'FCT' and 'MWT' gives golfers an amazing amount of influence over their trajectory, and gives the R9 driver a tremendous advantage over other drivers.
Depending upon how the clubhead characteristics are set and the weights are configured, the R9 driver promotes up to 75 yards of side-to-side trajectory change - perfect for correcting a slice or hook.
The TaylorMade R9 driver features a new triangular clubhead shape that merges modern and classic lines with incredible effectiveness.
The gorgeous head shape allows for a deeper and further back centre of gravity for high launch, combined with a higher MOI for increased accuracy on off centre strikes.
The TaylorMade R9 clubhead is constructed with the aid of TaylorMade's Ultra-Thin Wall (UTW) technology, which allows for clubhead walls measuring as thin as 0.6 millimeters, with the saved weight redistributed to make both MWT and the low-and-deep CG possible.
Inverted Cone clubface technology expands the sweetspot for extra forgiveness and distance on off-centre strikes.
A specially designed wrench is included and can only be used with the R9 driver to alter the FCT bolt and movable weights to your desired setting.
Fitted with the Fujikura Motore graphite shaft, featuring High Interia Tip technology for increased clubhead speed at impact for extra distance.
