Cobra has shone a spotlight on the introduction of its new 2009 King Cobra Transition-S integrated irons set.

The collection is an eight-club set ranging from utility metals to hybrid irons to wide-sole irons, designed to give welcome assistance in the three areas of forgiveness, distance and accuracy.

According to the manufacturer, the new line - which uses a wide-sole radius design to provide a low and deep centre of gravity for higher launch - is being targeted at moderate speed players.

Brian Zender, Cobra Golf's general manager, commented: "We experienced a positive response to the previous Transition-S line, especially from men, women and seniors with moderate ball speeds looking for maximum forgiveness, carry distance and accuracy.

"In the new 2009 Transition-S line, the Cobra engineering team further improved performance via specific design features that increase forgiveness and promote draw bias ball flight to improve accuracy."

One of the faces of Cobra, Camilo Villegas, recently swept to victory in the Tour Championship at East Lake, Atlanta, beating TaylorMade's Sergio Garcia at the first hole of a play-off.

The win, coupled with Villegas's maiden US PGA Tour win at the BMW Championship earlier in the month, means the Colombian has shot to seventh in the world rankings.
