Irons' drop down crown allows for easier launch

11/11/2008
The 'drop down crown' feature of Mizuno's MX-100 hybrid irons makes it easier for players to get height on their shots.

According to the manufacturer, the clever design gives a lower centre of gravity, which can assist with the golfer's launch.

The drop down crown is just one of several facets of the MX-100 hybrid irons designed to increase forgiveness and help out players who find themselves in a pickle.

"At Mizuno, we are constantly improving upon technology that enhances performance on the course," commented Dick Lyons, vice president and general manager, Mizuno USA Golf Division.

A super-wide sole and U-grooves are also intended to help out golfers who are attempting to play from difficult lies, while an over-sized sweet spot area adds to the playability of the clubs.
