Martin Kaymer's aggressive play with his fairway wood at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship has helped him gain the European Tour's Shot of the Month Award for January.
The German found the green from 276 yards with his three-wood at the final hole of the tournament and then took two shots with his golf putter to repel the challenge of
Cobra golf equipment user Ian Poulter.
Kaymer had previously won the same tournament in 2008 when claiming a more dominant four-stroke success over Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson.
Despite being traditionally appreciated for his booming shots with his
Callaway golf driver, Alvaro Quiros took second spot for a spectacular shot when on the green.
The Spaniard holed a birdie putt across the full length of the putting surface at the ninth hole of the same European Tour event on his way to a share of 11th spot.
Quiros completed the 72 holes at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club 13-under-par, which was eight shots shy of the total posted by Kaymer.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy took third spot in the vote for his approach shot at the 18th hole during the third round at the tournament.
