Although
Mizuno tend to be more highly regarded for their development of great
golf irons, this attitude may now be ready to extend to the woods and driver department.
After testing 36 drivers from some of the golfing world's top manufacturers, Today's Golfer has presented its 'Gold' award to the
Mizuno MX700 Driver.Among the stand-out elements of the club, according to the judges, were its expanded sweetspot, which has been developed by "aligning the titanium grain vertically on the clubface".
Meanwhile, the judges also spoke highly of the club head weighting of the driver, which helped them to pull off a number of "long, booming drives".
Today's Golfer concluded of
Mizuno and the club: "They've always made cracking irons, but the drivers have been a little bit hit and miss.
"Not so with the latest offering - it's an absolute peach."
The
Mizuno MX700 Driver is a replacement for the
Mizuno MX500 and is available with lofts ranging from 9.5 degrees to 12 degrees.
According to
Mizuno, the MX700 also gives a "powerful sensation at impact", while the club face's wide geometry results in a "high, penetrating ball flight".
