Justin Timberlake is hoping that a new golf driver will help him lower his score at this year's second US Open Challenge.
The songwriter and musician played in the inaugural event last year at Torrey Pines and broke 100, despite Tiger Woods stating that nobody with a handicap of ten could achieve this.
As he prepares to take on Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and amateur golfer Larry Gielbelhausen in the event this year, Timberlake told USA Today in an interview that he is optimistic about the added distance gained accomplished by his new club.
He said: "I have a new driver. I've been using the
Callaway Diablo driver with a neutral setting. It just comes off the face so hot.
"It's a more boring flight. It just moves through the air. I need the help and this is giving it to me. I'm ten to 15 yards longer with this driver and at Bethpage, that's huge."
He added that he is not concerned if he fails to shoot under 100 in New York as he can always say that this has already been achieved.
Timberlake is also the founding member of the clothing line William Rast, which is primarily known for its selection of jeans.
