A subtle change to his
Nike SQ DYMO driver helped Tiger Woods to complete his most accurate tournament since 1998 to win the Memorial Tournament.
Woods made up four strokes in the final round to beat Jim Furyk by one shot and secure his fourth title at the venue and the 67th of his career.
Over the tournament's four days, the world number one struck 49 out of 56 fairways, including all 14 in the final round.
A change to the loft of his
Nike SQ DYMO driver, moving from a 9.5 degree loft to a 10.5 degree loft, was stated as a possible factor in this, with the tournament being his most accurate since the 1998 Masters.
Woods said: "As my release has changed over time ... I needed a little more loft to get the ball in the air, a little more spin.
"I'm still hitting it just as far but probably a different way."
Woods will now be hoping to maintain his accuracy and momentum in the US Open, which begins on June 18th on the Black Course at Bethpage State Park.
