Corey Pavin has announced his four captain's picks for the US Ryder Cup team to take on Europe at Celtic Manor next month, and Tiger Woods is among them.
There had been speculation that the world number one's patchy form, off-course troubles and poor Ryder Cup pedigree could lead to him being overlooked for a wildcard, but Pavin said he had been encouraged by developments over the last few weeks.
Having slumped to an embarrassing tie for 78th at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational at the beginning of August, Woods responded with a tie for 28th at the PGA Championship and a tie for 12th at The Barclays.
The
Nike Golf - VR Forged TW Blade Irons user then finished in a share of 11th place at the Deutsche Bank Open on Monday (September 6th).
"I was hoping he would qualify on points," said Pavin, the BBC reports.
"He didn't but then I was just waiting to see how he was going to play. I was pleased to see him playing better."
The other three wildcards were given to Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson and Rickie Fowler.
