Shorter-than-average golfers have been told of the importance of ensuring that the shaft length of their golf clubs are right if they want to witness the best results.
Adam Barr states in his column on the PGA Tour website that players are more likely to consistently strike a golf ball well if their shafts are the right length.
Mr Barr highlights recent Honda Classic winner Camilo Villegas, who plays with
Cobra golf equipment, as an example.
The Colombian stands at 5ft 9ins and has decided to use a shaft that is an inch shorter than standard, while his fairway woods and golf irons have also had some length shaved off.
However, Mr Barr remarks that this decision may not suit every shorter golfer that is struggling for consistency with their games.
He said: "Although Villegas may need to trim his lengths, another 5ft 9ins player may not, they may even want his clubs longer.
"We all come at it in our own unique way, from angle of attack to speed to face angle at impact. So what works for one highly talented, incredibly popular South American pro may not be the exact formula for... well, you get the idea."
Villegas, who uses a
Cobra S9-1 golf driver won the Honda Classic by five strokes from Anthony Kim, who has
