Swing gadget helping Singh

01/09/2008
A golfing gadget has been credited with helping world number five Vijay Singh enjoy a successful late summer on the US PGA Tour.

The big Fijian has been using a device called Swing Tempo to aid his practice on the driving range, helping the man with one of the most attractive swings in golf to play well despite a problem with tendinitis in his left arm.

Over August, Singh triumphed in both the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and The Barclays and is currently sitting in second spot after three rounds of the Deutsche Bank Championship.

"It just keeps you in a good rhythm all the time," Singh said of the device, speaking to the Boston Herald.

The Swing Tempo works by providing a numerical reference of tempo, timing and rhythm.

Players can then see if they are swinging too fast, too slow, or just right by listening to the signals emitted by the product, which is set according to the particular golfer's ideal tempo.
