Jean van de Velde believes a widened stance is key to an improved putting performance on windy greens.
The Frenchman says players need to adjust their technique to ensure they have stability when on the greens in blustery conditions.
One way for them to do this is to move their legs further apart, while gripping the golf putter further down the shaft can also be beneficial.
In an interview with the BBC, Van de Velde added that a different approach needs to be taken when lining a putt up in windy conditions.
"Consider the breeze on the ball - if the normal line is right of centre, a 30mph wind from the left can change it to inside the left lip," he told the news provider.
Van de Velde has two European Tour victories to his name having triumphed at the 1993 Roma Masters and the 2006 Madeira Island Open Caixa Geral de Depositos.
