R'n'B star Justin Timberlake will enter the lion's den with 18 holes around a course Phil Mickelson regards as the toughest in golf.
The singer will play a round at Torrey Pines, the venue for next week's US Open, as part of a charity event.
Also playing is popular US network TV presenter Matt Lauer and NFL quarter-back Tony Romo.
The prospects of the celebrity participants scoring low is remote to say the least, so says world number one Tiger Woods.
He commented: "If you're a 10-handicapper, there is no way you're breaking 100 out there. If you played all out on every shot, there is no way.
"You just have to be so patient and on top of that you've got to be strong coming out of the rough and you've got to have unbelievable touch on the greens."
The US Open will be played from June 12th to 15th at the Torrey Pines course in San Diego.
