Organisers of Manchester's Player's Tour have set their sights on attracting European Tour star Phillip Archer.
Officials hope to tempt the
John Letters Tour Professional into making an appearance on the tour when he is back from action at the world's biggest tournaments, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The format has been put together by Jon Cheetham, a winner of the MEN Open and Richard Walker.
Walker told the newspaper: "We hope to persuade Phil Archer to join us when he takes a break from the European Tour because he's one of the biggest players in the region."
Archer finished tied-21st at the Malaysian Open yesterday (Monday, February 16th) after recording a final round 71.
The Merseysider has been placed even higher up the leaderboard after two opening rounds of 69.
Archer declared himself pleased after last season, which included appearances at both the Open Championship and US Open.
