World number five Sergio Garcia has insisted next season's Race to Dubai on the European Tour will not be all about the £11.47 million prize pot.
The new format will replace the Order of Merit from November, culminating in the £5.2 million Dubai World Championship.
But this year's US PGA Championship runner-up believes that the glory of winning and competing against the sport's elite will mean more to him than the riches on offer.
The
TaylorMade star told Scotland's Daily Record: "I play the game of golf because I love it. I play it to become the best player I can and to become the best person I can become.
"For me, it is not about money. It's about becoming the best I can become and to do that I have to play against the best, no matter where that is."
The development of the plan for the Race to Dubai was set in motion when chief executive of the European Tour, George O'Grady, called a meeting of its members two years ago.
