England's Ross Fisher led the way after day one of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
Titleist's Fisher was tied on eight-under par with Dane Soren Hansen, after both men shot first rounds of 68 on the Kingsbarns course, acknowledged to be the least challenging of the three venues involved in the tournament.
Martin Kaymer of Germany was one stroke off the pace on seven-under after his first round.
Wilson Staff star Padraig Harrington shook off his end-of-season tiredness on the back nine at Kingsbarns, registering five birdies over the last six holes to go end up on five-under par for the tournament.
Post-round, Harrington drew attention to the importance of earning the necessary prize money to win the European Tour's Order of Merit.
He said: "When you are leading it you want to win it.
"The first question you will be asked when you retire is how many majors you have won, but Order of Merits come a close second."
