Australia's Nathan Green took a two-shot lead in the Valero Texas Open yesterday (Thursday, October 9th), shooting an eight-under par 62.
Gunning for his first win in three seasons, Green carded his best ever round on the US PGA Tour, to open up a gap on the second-placed Americans Olin Browne and Paul Claxton.
Back in the clubhouse, Green described how a lucky break on the first hole set the tone for his round.
He said: "I didn't feel really good before the round started and then on the first hole I snapped my drive, it hit a rock and bounced back in the fairway.
"From there, everything went pretty well."
Elsewhere, Scotland's Martin Laird registered a three-under par round of 67, while defending champion Justin Leonard ended up on level-par after a round of 70.
England's Brian Davis was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard.
