Padraig Harrington is attempting to muster what energy he has left after a draining year of championship golf, in time for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, starting tomorrow (Thursday, October 2nd).
The Irishman has won the US PGA Championship and Open Championship as well as appearing in the Ryder Cup in a 2008 which has surely taken its toll.
But
Wilson Staff's Harrington is determined to hang on to his lead at the top of the European Tour's Order of Merit by winning the upcoming event, one of two remaining tournaments he is entered for, possibly even competing despite medical advice recommending that he rest.
He told the BBC: "I would never not be here. I'd crawl over to this tournament. I was low in antioxidants, my white blood cells were too active, basically showing that I'm fatigued."
The 37-year-old will be up against the likes of Ernie Els and current Order of Merit title holder Justin Rose in his bid to win the event.
Last year's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship winner Nick Dougherty will also be defending his crown.
