The Castle Course at the legendary St Andrews in Scotland has been named as the best new venue of the year in a newly-published list.
Travel and Leisure Golf magazine complied the chart and cited the Castle Course's innovative design as a factor in the decision, reports Reuters.
The Castle Course is the seventh to be built near the Scottish town and perhaps the most picturesque.
It offers views over the historic medieval part of the area and was constructed after a long-running debate between local groups.
Writing on the PGA's official website, David Brice commented: "The Castle Course is only the most recent chapter and reason enough for golfers to linger just a little longer in this delightful town and experience as much of the golf and other historic attractions as time allows."
Next in the list was the Jack Nicklaus-designed The Chase at PGA Golf Club Coyote Springs in Nevada.
