Camilo Villegas won the third event of the US PGA Tour's Fed-Ex Cup series with a wire-to-wire victory in the BMW Championship at Bellerive, Missouri, yesterday (Sunday, September 7th).
The Columbian, a ladies' favourite, took his first tour title after finishing on 15-under par, two shots clear of American Dudley Hart.
After securing his big breakthrough, the 26-year-old was keen to pay tribute to the support network which he credited with contributing to the success.
Villegas said: "There's a big team behind me, my family, friends, all my sponsors.
"They motivate me to keep working, keep going, give it all, because it's a tough game and we're playing against the best players in the world.
TaylorMade's Vijay Singh all but secured a $10 million (£5.5 million) jackpot for becoming the overall winner of the Fed-Ex Cup play-off series.
The Fijian needs only to complete 72 holes in the final event at the Tour Championship at the end of the month.
