Colin Montgomerie is in with a chance of retaining his European Open title after enjoying a return to form in the run-up to the tournament at the London Golf Club, starting today (Thursday, July 3rd).
The Scot finished runner-up at the recent French Open in Paris and is looking to build on a result which saw him re-enter the top 100 and rise to 14th in the standings for the European Ryder Cup team.
Monty, who was victorious at the K Club a year ago after a final round 65 saw him hold off Sweden's Niclas Fasth, feels that he is getting back into the groove after enduring a dry patch.
He said: "I played well in Munich two weeks ago and then last week was back to the way that I used to play and win tournaments - through lack of mistakes."
A healthy crowd is expected for the first day's action at the Kent course, after organisers announced that no entry fee would be charged.
