Colin Montgomerie is hoping to be rewarded for the extra practice time he has put in at Gleneagles ahead of this week's Johnnie Walker Championship, starting today (Thursday, August 28th).
Monty chose not to compete at the recent SAS Masters and KLM Open events, instead opting to arrive in Scotland early for his last chance to win a Ryder Cup spot.
The 45-year-old is relying on European captain Nick Faldo choosing him as one of the two wildcard places on offer.
"My game two weeks ago was poor in America and I took a couple of weeks off," Monty said, referring to his missing of the cut at the recent US PGA Championship.
He went on: "I've been practising at Gleneagles every day. I feel very confident now in trying to win this event."
The Scot tees off at 13:00 today with Ross Fisher and Soren Hanson.
