Padraig Harrington has revealed his fear that the lightning-quick greens expected at Valhalla for the upcoming Ryder Cup are bound to suit the US team.
The three-time major winner has highlighted the fact that Europe's recent victories have come on slower-paced greens.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, Harrington has underlined the influence the state of the greens can have on the performances of the two teams from across the Atlantic.
He told the newspaper: "Every time we have won in recent years, it's been on Europe-paced greens. Well, these greens are going to be super-quick at Valhalla this week."
And Harrington remembered: "When America came from behind to beat us on Sunday at Brookline in 1999, they changed the greens back from being European-paced to fast US-paced."
Ben Crenshaw was the winning captain when the Americans took a 14 ½ to 13 ½ win in 1999 after Justin Leonard led a comeback on the final day.
