The youngest member in Paul Azinger's US Ryder Cup party, 23-year-old Anthony Kim, says he took inspiration from a team trip to the Muhammad Ali Centre in Louisville.
Azinger led the outing to the centre - which is a tribute to the life and times of the great Louisville-born Heavyweight Champion boxer - in the run up to this weekend's Ryder Cup, taking place in the city.
The visit may have been an attempt to galvanise a feeling of patriotism among the US team - and
Nike Golf's Kim certainly bought into the Ali experience.
Californian Kim, with two wins to his name on the US PGA Tour this year, commented: He wasn't part of my generation, but it was inspirational. Watching the video that we watched for 20 minutes or 25 minutes was very inspirational.
"I took a lot away from it and I'm going to use some of it this week."
Captain Azinger has revealed he is not adverse to the idea of playing two rookies in the same team for fourballs and foursomes, meaning Kim could theoretically team up with JB Holmes or Hunter Mahan.
