US Ryder Cup team member Kenny Perry says he can't wait to play at Valhalla in this week's Ryder Cup, cheered on by his home crowd.
Kentucky man Perry, a
TaylorMade endorsee, lost a play-off at the venue to Mark Brooks in the 1996 US PGA Championship.
Now the major-less 48-year-old, who scheduled his season with a view to making Paul Azinger's team, says he is ready to banish those memories for good.
He told Kentucky's Lexington Herald-Leader: "I need to get back to Valhalla and close that chapter. There's unfinished business there for me."
And on being in the limelight as the country turns on the TV to watch the clash with Europe, Perry enthused: "We're going to be like rock-star status. We're going to be like Tiger Woods status."
Perry, who missed the US Open and Open Championship this year to concentrate on Ryder Cup qualification, has picked up a reputation for sitting out majors - after losing in the US PGA sudden death contest to Brooks, he only played in seven out of the next 20 on golf's calendar.
