Colin Montgomerie feels that Lee Westwood will finally end his major jinx next year by winning the Masters.
The
Titleist Pro V1x golf ball user’s resume is now almost complete after overhauling Tiger Woods recently to become the new world number one.
Winning one of the four majors is the one accolade that still eludes Westwood, but victorious European Ryder Cup captain Montgomerie believes that a success at Augusta is more than plausible.
Montgomerie said: “I think Lee Westwood will win the first major of the year.
"Lee has been second or third on a number of occasions now, but the world number one status has just increased his confidence.”
The Masters was one of the majors where Westwood finished second with his golf equipment this year, as he was overtaken in the final round by Phil Mickelson.
He also took the runner-up spot at the British Open, although he was seven shots behind South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen.
