Louis Oosthuizen has confirmed that he will be unable to compete at this week's Singapore Open as a result of an ongoing injury.
The South African, who won the Open earlier this year, damaged his ankle after tripping over a pothole during a hunting trip in his homeland in September.
Oosthuizen returned after a month out at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai last week wearing a brace on his ankle but fell away badly after an opening round of 69.
As a result, the
Nike SQ II fairway wood user will sit out the Singapore event in a bid to regain his fitness ahead of the hectic conclusion to the current season.
"It's disappointing for everyone in Singapore that I can't play because I know how much having the four major winners this year means to the event," he said.
"But I just can't go out there shooting 80s, and be struggling with my ankle, as that's no fun at all. Those scores certainly are not me and it's only because my ankle was causing me so much discomfort."
Oosthuizen landed his first major at St Andrews in July with a hugely impressive seven-shot success over Lee Westwood.
