John Letters T9+ Hybrid Iron Set

Today's Golfer Review "Traditionally harder-to-hit irons are replaced with hybrids that take the pain out of the long approach, while the actual irons are neat and compact, but offer good forgiveness too."
  • The John Letters T9+ set includes a 19 and 22 degree hybrid club to replace the harder to hit traditional 3 and 4 irons. The latest hybrid technology including an unparalleled MOI and Maraging steel face gives the user maximum distance and ease of use.
  • Each T9+ hybrid utility club also comes with discretional weighting and a ‘feel cell’ sole for monumental all round performance.
  • The 5-SW irons are forged from 304 Stainless Steel for unrivalled feel and performance. This premium metal combined with a thinner top line gives a player’s club feel and look from address. This allows for pinpoint accuracy whilst not sacrificing any forgiveness unlike other forged clubs on the market.
  • The heel and toe weighted irons help to optimise the launch angle, giving more carry and a higher ball flight. The Under Cut cavity allows for increased accuracy and distance even on off centre hits.
  • Full set includes 3 & 4 T9+ Hybrid Utility clubs and 5-SW undercut cavity Irons.
  • Each of the T9+ irons comes fitted with a top quality, world famous Rifle steel shaft for the perfect blend of control and distance. The two T9+ hybrid utility clubs come fitted with the popular Aldila Tour Gold graphite shaft featuring a low torque design for extra control and lightweight for distance.
  • A top of the range, soft feel, midsize Winn DSi grip is fitted to each of the clubs for great traction and comfort in all conditions.

Owned this set for 18 months now. My budget gave me lots of choices, however as soon as I got my hands on this set knew they were the ones for me. Rifle shafts and softer grips give a unique feel that suits my handling and swing. Have since added JL rifle shaft wedges which complement my bag. From beginner to improved and consistent performer, these irons deliver. The hybrids are sweet and easy to get along with delivering straight and middled flight.

Initially bought in a head to head test with some other clubs I was swayed by the DG pro.

6 months down the line I am now playing taylormade burner 2.0 which I am hitting up to 30 yards further than the Letters. Beautiful feel, great control, amazing ball flight. Far better shafts.
Could not use the hybrids in the Letters set at all. Found them weak, crazy launch angle, and hard to control, ended up replacing them with Adams A7s. Not really worth the money in hindsight and unfortunately the resale value is poor.

Comments about John Letters T9+ Hybrid Iron Set:

14 years old. Was all the way up at 33 handicap. Switched to T9+'s and immediately came down to 26, and then broke 90 for the first time. Really helped my game, and for a mid- handicapper, they have exceptional feel in all of the scoring clubs. I found the hybrids easy to hit, and have picked up a lot of distance since switching to these clubs.

I upgraded to these clubs on the recommendation of one of your pro staff and have found them to be a great asset. The feel and balance of the clubs is superb and in the few times I have used them thus far my overall game has improved.

i first went to direct golf to purchase the Taylormade Burner 2.0 irons which i had my heart set on, however when the professional there suggested trying these irons out i was a bit dubious at first, but after my first hit with these irons i was stunned with the feel and distance you get from these irons, they were as far as the taylormades but there was a lot more feel from the forged heads on these John Letters irons, my first round with these irons i dropped a few shots from my usual score of about 90 round my local golf club, so very happy.
