John Letters Golf Academies, based at the Cambridge Golf and Conference Centre, Huntingdon and Calderfields Driving Range, Walsall have become the latest Golf Range facilities to be awarded RangeMark, the English Golf Union (EGU) national scheme that identifies and recognises quality ranges.
The EGU/EWGA recognise the important role that driving ranges play in introducing adults and juniors to the game of golf and providing a variety of coaching and practice opportunities for all standards of golfers. It is essential that these facilities receive recognition for their development work and also that they link in with the national structure of golf facilities in England.
RangeMark assesses driving ranges on the following three areas:
• Participation
• Environment
• Child Protection / Duty of Care
Upon accreditation driving ranges receive a variety of benefits including a certificate and plaque to display, which promotes their award, as well as some funding towards the development of golf at the facility. John Letters academies are keen to be seen at the forefront of golf development and view Rangemark as an important tool.
Darren Scholes, Academy Director for John Letters Academy in Cambridge said “We are very proud to be awarded the standard again. We work hard to develop golf in the local area and are delighted to be recognised as a high quality facility”
Paul Hebdon, Academy Director for John Letters Academy in Walsall said “The criteria for RangeMark is pretty stringent and a lot of hard work goes into satisfying the requirements, which is why only the best facilities are awarded RangeMark”
